The firm produces sealed Site Plan drawings; completes, submits and processes Site Plan Permit applications; prepares and presents City of Austin variance applications; and facilitates all related services necessary to secure a COA Site Plan Permit. Janis J. Smith P.E. is a licensed professional Civil Engineer. She graduated in 1985 from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and has made Austin her home ever since. She paused her engineering career while staying home with her three children and returned to civil engineering 14 years later.  Her engineering design work picked up where it left off with a heavy concentration in hydrology, hydraulics, and land development. Janis finally sat for her Professional Engineering exam and became a licensed professional in civil engineering - at 48 years old. Her experience prepared her well for an engineering practice centered on Lake Austin shoreline improvements.  She communicates well with both clients and City staff with the goal of making the permitting process as efficient as possible.

 

Janis has been actively involved in the central Texas community as a member of civic boards and organizations. She has led some of the most successful and impactful non-profit events in Austin and has cultivated a wide and diverse body of community experience that complements her professional effectiveness.
